The 2024 July 13th Howard Cooper Remembrance Ceremony

This year’s July 13th Howard Cooper Annual Remembrance Ceremony will be held at 10:00am at the park located at the corner of Bosley Avenue and Susquehanna Avenue, across the street from the Old Towson Jail where 15-year-old Howard Cooper was lynched in 1885.

To publicly acknowledge Cooper’s 1885 lynching and honor his memory, the Baltimore County Lynching Memorial Project will hold a brief ceremony of remembrance on Saturday, July 13th at 10:00am. The ceremony will feature three youth poet winners from the 2024 Racial Justice Poetry Contest Exhibition, singer Ally Hunter-Harris, Dr. Kalima Young (Assistant Professor in the Department of Electronic Media and Film and CoLab Co Director at Towson University), and others.
