Racial Justice Poetry Contest Exhibition, Program, & Celebration Announced for May 30, 2023 @ 6pm


The Baltimore County Coalition of the Maryland Lynching Memorial Project announces the 2023 Racial Justice Poetry Contest Exhibition, Program, & Celebration for 6th-12th graders who participated in this years Racial Justice Poetry Contest sponsored by the Baltimore County Coalition of the MLMP. The event is open to the public.


First and second place finishers will be recognized from the following three divisions: Grades 6-8, Grades 9-10, and Grades 11-12. All entries received blind adjudication by high school seniors who attend the Carver Center for the Arts and Technology.


The first place entry for each division will receive a check for $100 while second place entries will receive $50. In addition, all first and second place entries will receive the following:

  • Publication of their poem on the Maryland Lynching Memorial Project (MLMP) website

  • An invitation to read their poem at the awards ceremony on May 31, 2023

  • A free poetry recitation workshop with DewMore Baltimore
